Digital Transformation · WEREP PERSPECTIVE

Choose an AI pilot around a decision you can evaluate

A focused business pilot needs a clear task, suitable information, and a practical way to judge whether the output is useful.

Choose a bounded task

Start with a task that has a recognizable input, output, and reviewer. Drafting a summary from approved notes is easier to evaluate than a broad instruction to improve productivity across a department.

Describe what a good result should include and which errors would make it unusable. Keep a representative set of examples so the team can compare results consistently as the approach changes.

Define the information and review boundaries

Identify what information the workflow needs, where it may be processed, who can access it, and which organizational requirements apply. Confirm these conditions before sending business information to a new tool or environment.

Keep a responsible person in the review process. A fluent response can still contain an unsupported statement or omit important context. The workflow should make checking and correction practical for the person accountable for the result.

Evaluate the whole operating process

Look beyond the first demonstration. Consider the effort to prepare inputs, review outputs, handle exceptions, maintain access, and explain limitations to users. Include the operating cost and the support the workflow needs.

Use the evidence to decide whether to continue, refine the approach, or choose a different task. A useful pilot creates a clear learning outcome and an accountable decision about the next stage.

Decide what would stop or change the pilot

Agree the conditions that would require a pause or a different approach. Examples include the inability to meet the review standard, an unresolved information-handling requirement, or an operating burden that outweighs the usefulness of the output.

A pilot is easier to govern when the decision criteria are visible before the team becomes attached to a particular tool. Record what was learned, what remains uncertain, and who is responsible for deciding whether the next stage is appropriate.
